What a great response! Thank you to everyone who has been passing on the news of Talking Threads- keep up the good work- keep spreading the word! The series begins next week!
Yesterday Jamie and I spent the day at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexander Palace. We were overwhelmed by the lively atmosphere, the colours and the wonderful stands. We were thrilled to hear that people had already heard about Talking Threads. I’m glad to hear that anyone is looking forward to the series as much as me!
We met so many great people- all of whom said it was “about time there was a TV show dedicated to textiles!”
It was so lovely to see Kim, Fay and Gilda- who all had stands at the show, they were doing a grand job at promoting the series- thank you so much for your hard work.

Jamie and I have been happily dashing about all week but Tuesday was indeed a very busy day…
The Country Channel team arrived very early to begin filming the Talking Threads Christmas Special! That morning the door bell did not stop ringing as one after another textile artist stormed the Colouricious studio, armed with fabrics, felts, sewing machines, embellishers, yarns, fibres and threads!
With the filming well underway, we all settled down for a Christmas lunch complete with all the trimmings and even a brandy soaked Christmas pudding for dessert. Thank you to Ted, Jamie’s husband who had spent the morning (and I’m sure, the night before) preparing the delicious festive feast!
In the afternoon we finished off the filming with time to spare! Thank you so much to all the artists involved, I hope, like me, you thoroughly enjoyed the day and are now very much looking forward to real Christmas! Thank you also to the Paul, Alison and Dave from the Country Channel, we are truly grateful for all your hard work.
Merry (very early) Christmas to you all!

I met one of the ladies involved in this at the NEC Festival of Quilts- what a lovely lady and what a great initiative. Traditionally in sport, competitors exchange Pennants as a sign of friendship. To continue this tradition, and as a memento of their participation in the London 2012 Olympic games, Quilts 4 London are undertaking the huge task to making a quilt for every athlete! Everyone is welcome to participate in this momentous occasion. Click the link above to find out more.

Is it too early to be in the festive spirit? We don’t think so! We have all been busy preparing for the filming of the Talking Threads Christmas Special!
Jamie and I have been stamping, stitching, cutting and patching getting ready for the filming day on Tuesday. We can’t wait to see what the other textile artists have been up to. Tuesday is promising to be a very merry day with many of the textile artists from Series 1 popping round with fabrics, threads, prints (and mince pies!) to share ideas and festive projects.
There is even talk of a christmas lunch!
I’ll let you know how the filming goes.
